My mother always had a toaster oven, but the only thing I used it for was toasting. After a friend got me addicted to toasted English muffins with hot peanut butter, I finally went in search of a toaster for myself. I figured why pay for a toaster and the ever looming annoyance of jammed toast if I could instead get a toaster oven. That was when I discovered just how much MORE today's "toaster" ovens can do.
I bought my DeLonghi 2 years ago, and there is very little that I haven't done with it. It is incredibly easy to clean. Of course, I do have the drip pan wrapped in aluminum foil to make clean up even faster. The included racks, cookie sheets, broiler pan, and drip tray are all very good quality, and will last through the years. This toaster oven has been moved with me twice now, it gets moved around in the kitchen quite a bit, and is as sturdy as ever.
The dehydration setting is great for making your own on-the-go snacks, and the convection setting can significantly lower your cooking times. A favorite movie snack in my house is hot caprese on toast points. Quick as a whip with the DeLonghi's convection. Much to my delight, the DeLonghi even fits a glass 8x8 baking dish -- yes, I have made brownies during the dead heat of summer WITHOUT baking my entire kitchen, which is always a problem when I use my conventional oven. I have even used it to bake Flammkuchen. Don't let the name fool you -- "toaster ovens" are not just for toast any more!
