Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DeLonghi BCO70 Caffe Nabucco Espresso, Cappuccino, and Coffee BarCustomer Review: Wasted $100 Summary: 1 StarsThis machine was a waste of money. I received this as a gift to replace an old Mr. Coffee. The first one was mailed here-ordered from a retail company. It arrived with a broken carafe. The company we ordered it from tried to find a replacement but gave up and suggested we just return the entire thing. They sent us a new one at no charge.
It worked great- for about four months. Then it began leaking badly-coffee maker side. The company help line was constantly busy. After a couple weeks we gave up and my husband took it apart and fixed the leak as best he could. We discovered the internal parts are quite delicate. It worked again with lots of careful treatment for a couple weeks and then died completely.
After a couple months I gave up trying to reach the company and have simply resolved to not purchase DeLonghi anymore.
Compare this to our Mr. Coffee we had to put back into service-it still works and is ten years old. My parents have had a cuisinart (thermal carafe) for a couple years. They bought us one. I am skeptical of anything other than the standard brands at this point so we will see. Plus no expresso:(.
Customer Review: Dissapointing. Summary: 3 StarsI got this machine for my birthday while I was living in the dorms at college. All of my friends and I were excited to have an espresso machine around for our all-nighters, but from the get go we couldn't get it to work properly, much less work well. The main attraction for us was that it had both drip coffee and espresso, but the espresso quite honestly never came out tasting good. We also had problems getting enough pressure to steam the milk. It would never go long enough to heat the milk, and we would have to throw our coffee in the microwave (yuck.)
The reason I'm giving this three stars is because the drip worked fine (all the three months I was willing to put up with this big machine in our room) and it's at a good price point.
Customer Review: might as well take $99 and set it on fire Summary: 1 StarsGot this machine as a gift, worked fine for about 3 months and then started leaking water from the top (like other reviewer said). Thus began the period in my life now referred to as The Great Delonghi Debacle... called Delonghi, apparently this problem not covered under warranty, but had it fixed anyway. Had to wait three and a half months for Delonghi to ship a part. As if that wasn't bad enough, within 2 weeks of getting my machine back, it started leaking again. Same part. Same wait for another part. Delonghi has horrid customer service. All I wanted was a working coffee maker and they would do NOTHING. The Caffe Nabucco was tossed to the curb. And by the way, their toasters are awful too. Do yourself a favor and stay away from any Delonghi product.
Customer Review: Don't break the carafe! Summary: 3 StarsThis machine works wonderfully...but don't break either carafe!! I had to special order the carafe from Italy and it cost nearly as much as the whole machine. For whatever reason they are nearly impossible to find in America.
Customer Review: Attractive price, Below par quality Summary: 3 StarsWhile this coffee pot worked, it worked great. It brewed very good coffee and the espresso functions worked very nicely. After about 6 months water started leaking slowly from the top while brewing. The "Strength Selector" also stopped functioning properly - setting it to strong would still result in adding clear water to the pot, compromising the quality of the brew. Eventually this minor leak progressed to about a quarter to a third cup of water per pot of coffee. Eventually the burner also developed a short (likely a result of the leak). This pot is a very good integration of coffee and expresso functions. I only wish it would have lasted longer.
