Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DeLonghi TRN0812T Portable Oil-Filled Radiator with Programmable TimerCustomer Review: Greatest thing since sliced bread! Summary: 5 StarsI bought a house that seriously needed work. I had to fix multiple plumbing and electrical issues, holes in the roof, on and on...but the heating system was shot, too rusted (and too much $$$ to fix just yet). I have about 500 sq. feet on the first floor with 3 rooms & half-bath, and 500 sq. feet on the top floor. Right now I have the top floor closed off and with 2 of these heaters in the two 13 x 15 rooms I've been able to keep things toasty warm and I only have it set at 2! Now, true, it's not gotten below 27 degrees, I only have 8' ceilings and we've only had lows of 30s for maybe 3 days here and 3 days there, but I'm really impressed with the comfort these heaters have maintained. I started out with a setting of 6 thinking I needed some serious output to keep the rooms warm at freezing temps outside, but like I said, I've had to dial it down to a 2 to be comfortable. And my cat loves the warm floor in front of it to take her catnaps on. She hasn't been able to knock it over either and she makes serious attempts to knock everything over! lol I love this heater and will eventually buy 2 more for the upstairs. Really like the built-in CGFI too. I don't worry about leaving these on for my dog and cat while I'm at work.
Customer Review: Simply Great Summary: 5 StarsI was sick and tired of waking up to a cold bathroom all winter long...this heater works perfectly. The built in timer starts the unit every mornig at 5:00 and the bathroom is nice and warm when I get up. Couln't be happier.
Customer Review: Not simple to operate Summary: 2 StarsAlthough Delonghi is a reputable name, I cannot figure out how to properly operate this heater. There is limited information and I even brought it to a repair shop recommende by Delonghito see if there any problems. Needless to say, the repair shop did not find any problems with it. Lo and behold, I brought home and still cannot operate it!!! I would like to returned it, please advise!! Thank You
Customer Review: Didn't like the GFCI plug Summary: 3 StarsThis unit appears to be the replacement for the delonghi TRN1015T, which I purchased in November of 2006 to replace another delonghi oil-filled heater that had sprung a leak. This is the third delonghi oil-filled heater that I have purchased and just as with many mass-produced consumer products these days, they just don't last like the older models. The very first one of these heaters that I bought lasted 10 years before one of the switches burned up. I replaced it with a newer model which worked very well until the day that I walked into the room and found the room full of thin blue smoke. The unit had sprung a leake and most of the oil ended up in my carpet. Luckily, this room had a carpet that was just lying on a concrete slab with no padding underneath. If this had been wall-to-wall carpeting, it could have been a real mess. I suspect that this is a rare occurrance, as I've never heard of this happening before. That was when I bought my current unit, the TRN1015T. The GFCI plug got very warm whenever the unit was on. So did the cord, especially when using the high setting. Last winter the GFCI plug burned up. This happened in the middle of one of the coldest nights we had last winter. I happened to have a brand new plug in my tool kit, so I replaced the GFCI plug with a regular one and the unit worked fine. The cord never gets warm now no matter what setting I use. Near the end of last winter, the timer quit. I now have a heater that still works fine, but no longer has a working timer. I do want to say that in spite of these problems, I still like these heaters and I will be buying another one soon. They heat up quickly and are very efficient. The next one that I buy will NOT have the GFCI plug!
Customer Review: Safe, efficient and easy Summary: 5 Starsthis is my second DeLonghi heater. Now I have one in each bedroom. They don't blow so its not instant heat. It is consistent warmth. It is quiet heat. It is safe so I leave it on during the night. Great product. (I just turn it on and off - I haven't set the timer to go on before I get home)
