Customer Review: great coffee, terrible service from the company

The coffee maker I purchased was like this one but instead of the thermal carafe, mine had the regular glass pot. I had purchased the item from a very well named department store in Albany, NY,(I live in WV) the day after Christmas 2001. It made the best coffee and I was very pleased with my purchase. Then about 3 months later, maybe 4 months at the most, the plastic lid of the carafe broke. As everyone knows, you can't make any coffee without the carafe lid. Because the coffee maker was under warranty for one year, I notified the maker deLonghi, explained the situation, and asked for a new plastic lid. A very nice man at the company said he would send me a new carafe since they are not able to send just the plastic lid. Seven months later I still am waiting for a carafe and lid. I have given up on deLonghi and their products and have purchased a KRUPS brand.
Description of Delonghi DC78TC Caffe Elite 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker
This stylish Italian-designed coffeemaker brews eight cups of coffee just the way you like it. A brew selector button lets you choose how strong you want your coffee; by slowing the process down, grounds become more saturated and offer a stronger flavor. Coffee brews into a unique thermal carafe with double walls to keep your coffee warm and to maintain its rich, full flavor. You may remove the carafe at any time to sneak a cup before the brewing process finishes. The coffeemaker will pause until the carafe is returned to its base. Convenience features on this unit include a 24-hour programmable timer so you can wake up to fresh coffee and a water-level indicator for making just the right amount of coffee. The Caffe Elite also has a filter basket that swings open with the touch of a button. The permanent filter is easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher. Hidden storage on the back of the coffeemaker keeps the cord out of the way when the maker is not in use.
